Do You Believe in Hell?

Do you believe in Hell?

I know non-believers, New Age religions and anti/false Christian beliefs could care less of what happens to them after they die. This is why their main focus is living life to its fullest and being filled with positive thoughts and feelings because they believe when we die we either are reincarnated into animals and trees; roam the earth as wandering spirits or simply turn to dust.

However, Christians on the other hand should take the idea of Hell and eternal torment much more serious. But do they?

Throughout the years I have met many Christians who love to attend church regularly, assist in church activities and even proclaim themselves as ordained ministers and leaders. However, most of them would rather immerse themselves in the positive areas of scripture and will refuse to share anything other than that, condemning it as judgmental, offensive and un-loving.

This is why I beg the question: If a Christian refuses to warn people of their sinful lifestyles and false beliefs do they really believe in Hell or even Satan for that matter?

It’s quite ironic that SIN is the only thing that would lead someone to Hell yet many Christians refuse to warn people about it. Its as if they forgot why Christ was sent in the first place and why His return will bring swift judgment on this world.

Now I don’t believe we should be rude and condescending when speaking of God’s truths and I also don’t believe sermons should only be about Sin and Hell. However according to the lifestyles of many Old Testament believers; all New Testament believers and even Jesus Christ Himself, if we really have a true Christian love for our family and friends we ought to be adamant about warning them on a regular basis of the consequences of the eternal torment that awaits them due to their sinful lifestyles and false beliefs.

Sadly we don’t see much of that at all. What we do see is the complete opposite of what it takes to warn someone of their sins.

Christians and churches are more interested in positive messages that build self-esteem; being lenient and even supporting sin and sharing uplifting messages that caters to experiences and feelings. Basically, the focus is on our temporary life here on earth rather than our eternal life in Heaven or Hell.

One of the biggest examples of this is how everyone loves to share John 3:16 but never share the rest of it.

John 3:19-21 says: “This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved DARKNESS instead of light because their deeds were EVIL. Everyone who does evil HATES the light, and will not come into the light for FEAR that their deeds will be exposed…”

That definitely sounds like a warning to me regarding how people love their sin more than they love God. But if that doesn’t convince you that Christians should be warning people of their sins, maybe this will: Ezekiel 3:17-19, Ezekiel 33:7-9, John 5:14, Acts 2:40, Acts 20:311 Corinthians 6:9-10, 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9, 2 Peter 3:17, Matthew 16:6, Luke 12:1, Philippians 3:2, Colossians 2:8, Ephesians 5:6

Like Jesus and every solid Christian after Him, I believe HELL is REAL and I don’t want to see any of my loved ones perish in their sins, even those who falsely profess themselves as Christian will suffer God’s final judgement.

This is why for years, no matter how offensive and no matter how hurtful God’s truths may be, I will share it.

Call me judgmental and un-loving but anyone who truly read the scriptures will know, Jesus and His disciples were not hated because they loved everyone and was very careful of not offending anyone…no, they were hated simply for repeating what the Word said – Matt.10:22; Mark 13:13; Luke 21:17.

I’ll end with a quote from one of my favorite preachers – J.C. Ryle:

If you would ever be a healthy and scriptural Christian, I entreat you to beware of any ministry which does not plainly teach the reality and eternity of hell. Such a ministry may be soothing and pleasant, but it is far more likely to lull you to sleep than to lead you to Christ or build you up in the faith. It is impossible to leave out any portion of God’s truth without spoiling the whole. That preaching is sadly defective which dwells exclusively on the mercies of God and the joys of heaven, yet never sets forth the terrors of the Lord and the miseries of hell. It may be popular, but it is not scriptural; it may amuse and gratify, but it will not save. Give me the preaching which keeps back nothing that God has revealed.

In Christ,
Marc
