His name is called The Word of God…

Word Became Flesh

And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems ; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called THE WORD OF GOD. And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses. From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”

– Revelation 19:11-16

What I wanted to point out today from John’s vision is something many of us seem to overlook, which is Jesus Christ is not only our Savior, King, and Lord but also the Word of God.

John’s vision confirms the words written in his gospel: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word WAS GOD. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” (John 1:1-5)

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth…” (v.14)

Religiosity teaches us our relationship should be completely devoted to the church, church events, good deeds, repetition, and traditions. However, if there is one thing that is more important than any of these things, it is spending time with the Word of God (Jesus Christ).

As Christians we should not forsake the gathering of saints (Heb. 10:25) and fellowship with one another is proof we are walking in the light (1 John 1:7). However with the growing trend of feel-good messages, entertaining worship and emotion-filled services church has become more of a social religious event rather than a place to learn the Word of God and come together in true worship. Because of this we are seeing thousands upon thousands deceived into thinking “the church” is the place that saves us, we are no more running to the Word of God for counsel but rather secular opinions, interpretations, and watered-down sermons to lift our self-esteems. Some even feel without “church” their Christianity is completely lost.

The result of this superficial Christianity is we refuse to read our bibles and would rather have someone else tell us what it says, we don’t examine the Word, study the Word, or even meditate on the Word, but we are right there in the pews come Sunday morning. The exhortation we received from the Apostle Paul to “study to show ourselves approved rightly dividing the Word of Truth” (2 Tim. 2:15) is completely gone from our Christian walks, and we leave the duty to “rightly divide the word of truth” on the Pastor. We may profess to have a deep relationship with Christ but we don’t have a deep relationship with His Word…thus the “Light of men” (as John spoke of) that we think we have, is actually the darkness…because we simply can’t comprehend His Words.

God’s truths is definitely offensive to many, this is why superficial religious Christians dissect it by hunting and pecking through scripture making sure only the “uplifting” and “positive” passages are spoken. However as Christians we would never think of taking Jesus Christ apart correct? But this is exactly what we do when we pick and choose scripture compromising it to fit within secular teachings and to keep from offending people.

Think about it, Jesus Christ was graceful and kind yet He rebuked and chastened when confronted with sin and falsehood…that’s no different than the Word of God. In fact the writer of Hebrews teaches us: “…the Word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heartAnd there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.” (Heb. 4:12,13) The author of Hebrews is describing the Word of God, but within the context of scripture it definitely sounds like he’s describing Jesus Christ.

His name is called The Word of God, and with the Word of God He will rage war against Satan and bound him to hell forever and ever (cf. Rev. 19:11-21; Rev. 20:1-10). I don’t know about you but if the Word of God is mighty enough to cast Satan and all his sinful, false followers into the lake of fire, I will make the time to study, meditate, and read it.

Friends, to have a close relationship with Christ is to have a close relationship with His words, anything contrary to this is just religion. Think About It.

In His love,
Marc

  1. Awesome and so true! I was just talking with a friend at work and she just joined us at church this past Sunday. She loved it and I told her that it’s not the church that you gotta get attach to, the most important thing is all about reading your bible and getting a close and personal relationship with God.

Thanks again for another great reminder on reading Gods word, understanding it and putting it to action.

    In His love,
    Sis Bernie

  2. I came across your website this morning because during the night last night I heard the Holy Spirit speak to me, “He is called the word of God” and I remembered that scripture could be found somewhere in Revelation so I googled exactly what I heard and saw this awesome truth and testimony about relationship with Jesus and reading the word of God. This really blessed me because as you stated there are so many Christians who have religion but no relationship with God and it is a direct result from not meditating and spending quality alone time with the Holy Spirit. We must seek God for a revelation of why we are here and our purpose to spread His love, goodness and presence and this can only be accomplished through revelation and intimacy with the Holy Spirit for direction. We are imitators as just as Jesus said “I say what my Father tells me to say, I do what my Father says do and it is my Father who does the work. Thank you for your boldness to speak and declare truth. I am grateful I have found your website and will be visiting it frequently!

  3. Absolutely Absolutely True , God’s WORD IS THE ALL IN ALL , Christianity is God’s Word Expressing Itself through us , The Holy Spirit quickening The Word in us , True written epistles , preaching sermons by LIVING ONE , Christ Living in us , Tabernacles of THE HOLY LIVING DEVINE GOD , nothing nothing of our effort , ability , intelligence , wisdom , character NOTHING NOTHING but Jesus Christ ALONE IN US , HIS GRACE BRINGING US TO HIS PERFECT WILL , IDENTIFY WITH HIM !
